Idéalement situé entre Carcassonne et Castelnaudary

L’Escale Occitane campsite is located in Aude, near the medieval city of Carcassonne, not far from the Canal du Midi.

The campsite offers pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes, but we also rent mobile homes, a dormitory chalet and other atypical accommodation.

HOME

The campsite is nestled in the heart of the vineyards and is ideally located: on one side, at 15 km, Carcassonne and its wonderful medieval fortress town, the Cité, and on the other side, at 20 km, Castelnaudary and its legendary cassoulet. At 6km, Montolieu, famous fot its arts and literature.
At one hour drive away, you can be on the Mediterranean beaches, in the ski resorts of the Pyrenees or in Toulouse. It’s not just a stopover, it’s a pivotal point from which you can visit various interesting places and venues.
It is also an essential stopover for our cycling friends who cycle the Canal du Midi. We are at 86 km distance from Toulouse along the canal, exit at the waterlock of Béteille, then it’s just 2.7 km to reach the campsite. Along the canal it’s about 20 km from Castelnaudary and also 20 km from Carcassonne.

PITCHES

The campsite offers 15 pitches of which 11 are regular pitches of more than 100 m², lined with hedges, for tents, caravans and motorhomes.
Electricity connections available on all pitches, if required a 10 amp adapter with European connection is available as an option.

Dorm Le Saint-Léonard

For those who don't feel like pitching their tent, or don't have a tent with them, the dorm might be perfect for you.
Like mountain lodges or youth hostels, rental is per bed.
A wooden chalet, vintage decoration, with a common area including a large table with benches, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, a television, a filter coffee machine. Two bedrooms, one with two 80 cm beds and the other with four 80 cm beds. With duvets and pillows.
Disposable sheets provided.
The rooms are equipped with heating.
A small sheltered terrace with tables and chairs.

Inuit tent« Out of Africa »

A package for 2 people in a spacious tent of 25 m² surface. Warmly decorated cocooning space, with a decor that makes you imagine yourself in faraway exotic places. Equipped with a 160 cm wide bed with pillows, duvet, blanket. Disposable sheets "prestige quality" for single use included, the tent is equipped with electricity. Nespresso coffee machine.
The restaurant and sanitary facilities are nearby. Outside in front of the tent, a relaxation area with 2 sun loungers and a deckchair to enjoy a lovely siesta, in the shade, during the hot summer days.

4 mobile homes

4 mobile homes of 26 m² each for 4 people are available in summer and winter.
For rent per day, per weekend, per week or per month, depending on period of stay
Sheets and towels are not provided, you mighgt bring your own.
Disposable sheets can be purchased on site if required. Rentals are available from 3pm and must be vacated before 11am.
A deposit of 400 euros per rental will be requested on arrival.
2 bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with 2 single beds
1 living area with kitchenette equipped with stove, microwave oven with grill and convection, filter coffee maker, kettle, fridge, television and plenty of crockery.
Sanitary facilities: Shower, washbasin, toilet.
Outside, covered terrace with garden furniture and drying rack, parking space next to the terrace.

Bicycle and motorbike pitch

A large tenting meadow, specially shaped for more cosiness, at a special motorbike rate.
There are 2 sheltered picnic tables and a barbecue. Sanitary facilities are nearby.
Upon arrival, you’re welcome to refresh yourself at the bar, where you can enjoy cold drinks, ice creams and vitamin-rich smoothies.
In the evening, Rémy prepares you his delicious cassoulet, homemade pizzas and burgers, vegan burgers and salads.*
We’ve got a guitar, drum set, ping pong table, badminton, table football or the carrom board game, to play a game or be musically creative.

The restaurant

Restaurant Galley is located in the middle of the campsite. With Rémy as the chef and Nadia as your hostess.
Rémy likes to be creative in the kitchen, preparing dishes with local products: delicious beef, chicken, fish and vegan burgers, homemade pizzas including the famous pizza Raviole and various salads.
Come and refresh yourself at the bar with a smoothie or an ice cream in the shade of the terraces.
In the morning, a delicious breakfast is served on the terrace, tea, coffee, chocolate, bread, butter, jam and pastries, so you can set off well fed, ready for new adventures.
When choosing our ingredients, we prefer local, directly from the producer.

Our animal friends

We all love our dogs, they are very important to us. We’ve always had dogs, they are part of our life, but it can be difficult to bring them on holiday with us.
Your dogs, ponies, turtles and goldfish are very welcome at our campsite.

Nearby

Near the campsite you will discover multiple and amazing landscapes, hills, gorges, plains, forests, sea and mountains.
The Cité de Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi, the Cathar castles and abbeys. Many activities are possible in the area.
The campsite is ideally situated less than 15km from Carcassonne and its beautiful medieval fortified city.
The castle and ramparts of the medieval fortress town of Carcassonne are a designated Unesco World Heritage Site.

The restaurant is open in the evening every day in high season and on reservation in low season. Closed in December
